It's not about the money!

(I don't believe money and happiness are synonymous)

I did not go into business to get rich or for the money. It was the journey. Starting with a guitar studio in Bozeman, MT. Being successful was a bi-product of giving value to customers. If you sell furniture for less you sell more furniture and you end up making money.

I only opened stores as the market dictated. We out grew out of our first store on Bannock in the early 90's. We had hundreds of people waiting to load out and making hundreds of deliveries out of a few dock doors. That's when we opened our super store in Thornton. That was a 400,000 sq ft store and I thought it would last forever. A few years later we had the same problem. That is when we built our mega 670,000 sq ft store.

I believe you have to have the warehouse to stock, receive and deliver merchandise to keep up with sales. Anybody can sell, but very few people in the furniture industry will invest the money on facilities (back room) to keep up with sales.

Here at American Furniture Warehouse we strive to not just be a furniture store, but also give back and help the community. That is why I strive to provide a greater purpose to the Colorado community. Here are just some of the many things we aim to do at American every day:

-Be a responsible corporate member of the Colorado community
-To make people happy and proud of their homes

Giving Back to Colorado

I think it's important to give back to the community where you run your business. That's why every year American Furniture Warehouse donates to hundreds of charitable organizations. Some donations come in the form of money, others in furniture, but the main point is to help out those in need. We at American have been donating money to the Colorado community for over 30 years and we will continue that goal in the future. Some of the charities we donate to include Easter Seals Colorado, Muscular Dystrophy Association, T.A.P.S. and more. We've also done in-store promotions to help benefit the Children's Hospital and the American Heart Association. In business it is important to give back to the community that supports you and at American Furniture Warehouse we do it every year!

Check out our community page for more information on the charities we partner with: http://www.afwonline.com/About-Us/AFW-In-The-Community.asp

American Made Furniture

Many people think that furniture is mostly made overseas, in fact, here at American Furniture Warehouse, most of our furniture is actually domestically made, right here in the USA! Whenever our buyers can find products that are American, we try and buy them over the overseas variety. However, sometimes it is necessary to buy items overseas, as the affordability can't be beat.

When we buy American goods it not only helps out the economy, but it helps our customers. We receive American-made merchandise quicker since we can utilize our own fleet of trucks to pick up the furniture. This makes it easier on us, as well as the customer.

Buying American-made products is a large part of what we do, in fact it's in our name! Twenty of our top-selling bedroom sets and over half our entire inventory is made right here in the US. Make sure to stop in and see our great selection of American-made furniture today!

Reasons AFW WILL survive this recession

Here are a few reasons that we will survive this recession:

• We are a privately-held company
• We have no executives
• We own all of our own buildings
• We have no debt
• We sell furniture for less than anyone – and therefore, we sell lots and lots of furniture!
• Our customers recommend us – and come back as return customers
• Because our customers recommend us, it helps us save on our advertising costs
• We pay all our bills on time

We are stronger than ever and we’ll be here – that is our promise to all of our customers!

AFW runs mean and lean

We are going to strengthen American Furniture Warehouse during this recession. We’ve cut expenses, lowered our prices, and reduced our overhead. We’re running mean and lean. We don’t give out big bonuses, we don’t have any vice presidents or executives, we don’t own any Jet planes or sponsor any race cars. We’re Colorado owned and operated with all the money staying right here in Colorado and our local economy. We’ll be here when this recession is over – and we will be here stronger than ever!

It's a great time to buy furniture!

Slow market conditions are creating some unbelievable good buys from furniture manufacturers. As one of America’s largest furniture retailers – and because we do such huge volume and pay with cash, they are calling us and we are taking advantage of these great buys. With these buys, we get to pass on our incredible savings directly to our customers. So, by shopping at American, you know you are getting the absolute best deals available – anywhere!
